About us

Bettina Kraft - Pfefferle

“Our Power Engine”

Born in Ravensburg in 1964

Bettina grew up in a large dairy farm in Ostrach-Wangen (southern Germany near Lake Constance). Already at the age of 3 years she wanted to become an agriculturist.

She made this true in 1985 by finishing her degree as an agriculturist. In 1985 she married Dr. Thomas Pfefferle whom she (of course) first met in a stable.

Hereafter she still had to help on her parents´ dairy farm. Beside this she also helped in the veterinary practice of her husband. In 1989 her daughter Sabrina was born.

The veterinary practice of her husband grew contantly. Thus she had to decide between her parents´ farm and her husband´s practice.

She decided to give the farm into the hands of her brother and from then on she was fully dedicated to the veterinarian practice.

In 1991 her sun Jochen was born In 1993 she made a diploma as a dog hairdresser.

Togehter with Sibylle Riemer she established a dog parlour. In 1994 her sun Holger was born In 1996 she passed a six-week course as an insemination specialist. From then on she was in charge of the production and the processing of sperm. From 1999-2000 she took a course as an agricultural IT manager and passed this course with a grade “very good”. In 2000 birth of her sun Jens

She is in charge of:

  • Management of the stables

  • Production of deep-frozen sperm

  • Helping in the veterinary practice

  • Management of the office

  • Management of the dog parlour

Dr. Thomas Pfefferle

The Tireless

Thomas was born 1958 in Freiburg and grew up in the village of Kirchhofen in the „Markgräferland“-region.

He began to study veterinary medicine in 1977 at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover where he successfully completed the final state examination in 1982.

Already as a student he gained experience with horses in the veterinarian practice of Dr. Jacobs in Bierbergen.

He began his doctoral thesis about metabolic processes whilst he was still studying and finished it in 1984.

In 1982 he followed his internship semester in a large-animal practice in Ostrach (Southern Germany near Lake Constance). Through contacts made there he was able to take over a practice for large animals in Mengen in 1983. This practice was then expanded by a department for small animals and by an equine department.

In 1985 Thomas married Bettina Kraft a highly motivated agriculturist. Together with her he built up the present facilities.

Over the years they specialised in mares that are difficult to get pregnant. By constant and continuing training and through the direct contact to international specialists the gained experiences could be used for the gynaecological treatments in his practice.

His success is due to his motivation and precision. For him it is no big thing to inseminate a mare in the middle of the night just to get the precise moment of her ovulation.

Sabrina Pfefferle

Born in 1989.

From early on she was a horse freak. At hte age of 6 she was given her first pony named “Daisy”. She already gained experiences with this pony in tournaments. Until the year 2002 she was quite successful in showjumping and dressage. She then decided to concentrate on dressage alone. Meanwhile she is very successful in this field. She mainly uses horses up to the heavy-weight class that were bred and trained on our facilities.

On our facilities she is in charge of the training of the dressage horses

Jochen Pfefferle

Born in 1991.

From his early childhood on Jochen was very interested in horses.  At the early age of only 5 years he accompanied our then rider Ernst Ege to many tournaments. He made his “Reitabzeichen” (German certificate of riding) even before he went to school.

After attending the “Bundeschampionat” he eagerly began to take part in tournaments. He is successful in dressage exams up to class L and in jumping up to the the 1,45m class. He only uses self bred horses that are trained by him personally.

Due to his good results he was part of the “Landeskader for Juniors and young Riders in Baden Württemberg. During this time he took part twice in the championship “Award of the Bests” in Warendorf  and twice in the “German championship of the Youngsters”.

In 2010 he won a bronze medal at the “Championship of the Young Riders of Baden Württemberg”. Until now he got more than 680 placings as an amateur.

From an early age on he was very interested in the breeding process. Already as a young boy he could recognize the horses and their pedigree better than his parents.

He is in charge of choosing the right stallions for our mares and he is the only one who is in charge of the sale of our horses.

Between 2012 and 2014 Jochen studied Veterinary Medicine at the Szent István University in Budapest. Since 2014 he continues his studies at the “Freie Universität zu Berlin”, where he is expected to finish in 2018.

In his early years Holger was not very interested in horses.

As with Jochen attending the “Bundeschampionat” was a crucial point in his life. And for his carees as a rider. Meanwhile he is quite successful with horses (up to 1,45m class) that he bred and trained on his own. Being a very calm rider he is our specialist for young horses.

Since 2014 he is attending an apprenticeship as a rider with the famous instructors Thieß and Peter Luther in Holstein. (Northern Germany)

After having finished his apprenticeship as a rider Holger is supposed to study Veterinarian Medicine.
